Herbert Sedlmair

 

Owner and founder of the Sedlmair Business & Insurance Consultancy UG (limited liability) – he looks back upon a long-standing work in the field of Property/Casualty (re)insurance business. At the “Bayerische Rück” 1988 his carrier started as a mathematician in the non-proportional department, from 1992 to 2004 he worked at Allianz SE in management positions at the reinsurance and group risk controlling department. Subsequently he was acting as Managing Director at the brokerage houses Guy Carpenter, Towers Watson and JLT Re.

His track record includes the successful development of active reinsurance business as well as the transformation of reinsurance business into efficient market solutions. Furthermore he was leadingly involved in the foundation of reinsurance units in Bermuda and Ireland. In his role as a reinsurance manager he contributed in the development, introduction and realisation of common business and underwriting strategies on a group level. Also fundamental was his input to the definition and introduction of group wide risk policy, best practise procedures and reporting standards for credit and catastrophe exposure within the newly found Group Centre of Allianz SE.

As a managing director at the brokerage and consulting companies he was involved in the successful placement of reinsurance and retro businesses in the international reinsurance markets and especially contributed to consultations on quantitative risk evaluation in the course of the introduction of Solvency II as well as the qualitative requirements in risk management with regards to an optimal risk-bearing capacity even under Solvency II criteria. His engagement at Merger & Acquisitions also underlines his high professional qualification and leadership experience on an international level.

His faithful, thoughtful and rapid completion of tasks and his special attention on the exploitation of technical solutions are commonly known.

Herbert Sedlmair studied at the University of Applied Science Regensburg, Germany and graduated as a Diploma-Mathematician (FH) with a focus on actuarial sciences (Final Thesis: Burning-Cost-Model and IBNR Calculations)
